Events Schedule for 2017

Include an AHE event in your home-school year.

Our events are spread throughout the year and throughout the region.

Picnic Celebration

Start your year off with the AHE Picnic at Cornwall Park.  2017 marks the 20th year since AHE began and we ran some special activities for the kids to mark the day!
Picnic Celebration
Thursday 9 February
10 am – 2 pm
By the Playground and Observatory at Cornwall Park

Science Fair

Next up is the Science Fair – held at the end of Term 1 to give you plenty of time to get your experiments up and running, and those results recorded.  Young children up to teenagers are encouraged to enter – the emphasis is on fun and participation for the younger ones, and more serious science research for the older students.  To find out more see our Science Fair page and feel free to contact Stuart Dreadon at He is more than happy to help answer your questions.
AHE Science Fair
Wednesday (evening) 12 April/Thursday (morning) 13 April
Manukau (South Auckland)

History Fair

For Term 2 the focus is on History!  The History Fair is held at the end of the term – again to allow families to have the whole term to read, discuss, explore, question… and produce a History Fair project on a topic of the child’s choosing. For lots of children this a highlight of the home-school calendar – both showing off their own discoveries and enjoying the work of others.

Cross Country

The Cross Country Event is your kids’ chance to get fit, get running, and work on their long distance stamina.  Cross Country is open to children over the age of 5, and the distances vary for the different age groups. Book this into your calendar now and for the keen they can start training early in the year, or at very least at the beginning of Term 3.

Ending the year in Term 4 is the Art Fair.  Each year we have a theme, and children are encouraged to express their creativity around that theme whether it be photography, collage, craft or 3D, sketching or even wearable art!
